“A Prophetic Word” Day 3: Go into the deep with Jesus!

“When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.” “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear!”

Life is easier in the shallows. We can enjoy the water, yet we’re close enough to the shore to retreat to the safety and stability of terra firma, should we become afraid. Indeed, staying in the shallows may be prudent depending on conditions and skill of a swimmer. But when we’re talking about following Jesus, sometimes He leads us into deep places, places beyond our comfort zone, sometimes places beyond what we have even imagined.

Our opening scripture has the disciples casting their nets into the deep at the word of the Lord. For us it isn’t casting just a net. It’s “casting” our lives where He has said that we should do so. And—in so doing—we will reap an abundance of His blessings, uniquely tailored to fulfilling our purposes in Him.

Consider, the Lord Jesus Christ knows all things. It was through Him that all things were created. He knows where every pitfall is and where every treasure is buried. He alone can lead us into all things that God has for us, keeping us safe while doing so. You see, if He is leading, He is our safe harbor!

Now that you’ve tried things your way, playing it “safe,” doing things the way you see fit, isn’t it time to obey the voice of the Lord when He says, “Let us go into the deep”?
