“A Prophetic Word” Day 5: Your heart may need a good plowing.

“A Prophetic Word” Day 5: Your heart may need a good plowing.

Updated: Jun 4

“I said, ‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.’”

‭‭Hosea‬ ‭10:12‬ ‭NLT

There are places on earth where the ground is so dry, that even if it were to rain, the rain—rather than soaking into the parched ground—will run off. You see, the ground has become so hard that it cannot receive the rain. So, the effect is more like rain falling on concrete, rather than falling on loose soil.

Last time, we considered spiritual dryness and its connection with needing a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit. However, there are Christians who have become so dry that they really can’t seem to receive the refreshing of the Holy Spirit. They have become “hardened” in their spirits due to any number of things: discouragement, bitterness, unforgiveness, etc.

Consider: If you’re feeling dry and parched in your life, go before the Lord and ask His spirit to plow up the hardened parts of your heart. You see, hearts become hardened when we either neglect our relationship with God, or are actively somehow resisting the leading of the Holy Spirit in our life.

Now, we surely don’t want to shrivel up spiritually and have no fruit to show! And that is what will happen if we go long enough without receiving the showers of the Lord‘s blessings that come with His righteousness.

Remember, the Lord’s righteousness is His rule, His way of being and doing. In it is contained all of His blessings, as well. Some Christians seem to think that righteousness is a dirty word that is somehow connected with self-righteousness. Indeed, the righteousness of God, has nothing to do with self-righteousness. It has to do with His power, His order, His authority and His will.

Child of God, allow the hardened parts of your heart and life to be broken up by actively pursuing God in prayer and the study of His word. In doing so, you become partnered with the Holy Spirit Who can bring true change! Then, you can pray for the rain of the Lord’s righteousness and blessing to come, and it will. And when it comes, you will be able to soak it all in!

“Rain down, O heavens, from above, Let the clouds pour down righteousness [all the blessings of God]; Let the earth open up, let salvation bear fruit, And righteousness spring up with it; I, the LORD, have created it.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭45:8‬ ‭AMP

“I will bless my people and their homes around my holy hill. And in the proper season I will send the showers they need. There will be showers of blessing.”

‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭34:26‬ ‭NLT‬‬
