“A Prophetic Word” Day 51: The process towards victory rarely looks like what we have imagined.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”

Isaiah 55:8-11 ESV

When we arbitrarily create a vision of what victory should look like, we necessarily then conform our thoughts and efforts toward seeing that definition of victory, our own definition of victory. Then, when anything happens seen as being inconsistent with the scenario we have supposed, confusion and frustration fester. It seems ridiculous to assert that God sees what we do not, cannot see. Yet, we may argue with His purposes and methods, regardless.

Now consider: What person before the actual dying of Jesus on the cross, would have envisioned that scene as demonstrating any sort of victory? Yes, we now know that the resurrection of Christ would follow that scene, but it could not, would not have happened without that scene. This is why following after our own vision of victory is foolish, shortsighted, and dangerous.

After Job had spent much time defending himself against God’s “mistreatment” of him, God basically straightened him out, pointing out Job’s lack of understanding of God’s ways, of God’s limitless knowledge. Job was left feeling foolish for falsely accusing God of being unjust:

“Then Job answered the Lord and said: “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted. ‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. ‘Hear, and I will speak; I will question you, and you make it known to me.’ I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you; therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes.””

Job 42:1-6 ESV

Child of God, let us follow after the Lord, trusting Him to lead us into the victory without panicking every time we see something in our lives that doesn’t follow the script we have supposed. After all, God has promised us victory. Let’s trust Him with the process.
