“I myself taught Israel how to walk, leading him along by the hand. But he doesn’t know or even care that it was I who took care of him. I led Israel along with my ropes of kindness and love. I lifted the yoke from his neck, and I myself stooped to feed him.”
Hosea 11:3-4 NLT
“Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.”
Psalms 103:2-3 NLT
“One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, “Praise God!” He fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” And Jesus said to the man, “Stand up and go. Your faith has healed you. ””
Luke 17:15-19 NLT
We have all felt the bitter sting of being forgotten by someone whom we have helped.
Sadly, we see many ungrateful children treating their parents (who have often sacrificed for their good) with disrespect. Worse still, the children may neglect the parents when the parents come to need help.
We see spouses, having been greatly helped by their partner, leaving them for someone else as soon as they don’t need their support anymore.
And on and on it goes.
As sad as all these scenarios are, it is nothing compared to the tragic phenomenon of the ease with which many people forget the goodness of God.
Now, they are all too ready to receive from Him when they are in trouble, and may even have promised all kinds of devotion for His intervention. Yet, when things are better in their life, they forget the Lord.
As well, some people develop a “what have you done for me lately” attitude toward the Lord, and in doing so, grow cold toward Him.
As we celebrate Thanksgiving, let us not forget the Source of all that is good in our lives. Let us not forget the great things He has done! He is worthy of our praise, our love, and our devotion!
Yes, in light of His goodness and mercy toward us, let’s be thankful to Him everyday.
Give Him thanks today for all He has done for you!
Peace to you.
Jesus is coming! Get ready for Him!
