“Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!” Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: “You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.””
Revelation 4:6, 8-11 NKJV
I was recently listening to a man talk about a book he has written about once-great kingdoms of this world that are now hardly remembered. You see, all other kingdoms, all other dominions, all other thrones, no matter how great, will fall.
However, as John saw, the Kingdom of our God and of His Christ will last forever!
“Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” And the twenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying: “We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, The One who is and who was and who is to come, Because You have taken Your great power and reigned.”
Revelation 11:15-17 NKJV
Indeed, probably one of the most quoted prophetic passages in the Bible is found in the book of Isaiah. This passage speaks prophetically of the One Who would come and would have an everlasting Kingdom.
“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”
Isaiah 9:6-7 NKJV
Think of it: God already inhabits eternity!
“For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”
Isaiah 57:15 NKJV
Over the last two weeks we have been discussing true worship: what it is, and what it is about. We conclude our discussion today by pointing out that because the Lord has an everlasting Kingdom, and because He has offered us everlasting life, our worship will last into eternity.
“I will extol You, my God, O King; And I will bless Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And Your dominion endures throughout all generations. My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, And all flesh shall bless His holy name Forever and ever.”
Psalms 145:1-4, 13, 21 NKJV
David, himself a king, recognized that God‘s kingdom is the only eternal Kingdom; and as such, he would be extolling the greatness of the Lord’s rule forever.
Because we worship an eternal God and King, and because we ourselves have been granted to be eternal through Him, as we worship, our temporary existence is miraculously connected to our eternal existence.
In our opening scripture we take another glimpse into the worship in Heaven. Again, we see that worship will last forever.
Child of God, let us worship our eternal God and King now. As we engage in true worship, we come the closest we ever will—while in this robe of flesh—to touching the Face of God.
Last week I offered portions of the prophetic word the Lord gave me in 2009 on, “True Worship.”I leave you today with the rest of that prophetic word:
“The Sun is setting on the Day of Atonement. Judgment of all things is at hand. I desire to cover you in the Day of adversity, and to use you to bring in the final harvest, My precious harvest, My children. I am searching. I am reaching out to you. Take My hand and let Me usher you to a place you never thought possible. My blood flowed out to you. My essence, My love, reached out to you. I have made the way. You have but to surrender into My Spirit, and I will show you the way into My Presence. ‘Holy, Holy, Holy, Who Was, and Is, and Is To Come!’”
Peace to you.
Jesus is coming! Get ready for Him!
